About
This past year, 12th grade students worked together to connect Greek, British, and contemporary literature to social activism. Students gather their ideas for social activism by studying and analyzing the works of ground-breaking activists, such as Ida B. Wells. .
Ida B. Wells (July 16, 1862 – March 25, 1931)was an American investigative journalist, educator, and an early leader in the civil rights movement. She was one of the founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).She fought against prejudice and violence, and the fight for African American equality, especially that of women. Her journalism focused mainly on speaking up against the lynching of African American men. She once said her written work was meant to "arouse the conscience of America." This website is aimed to do just that.
